Back Ups and Templates

Your launcher projects are not just something you build — they are something you can back up, share, and even sell.

Pro Tip

GLC includes a built-in Import / Export system that lets you safely back up your work, move it between accounts, and create templates for others to use.

Manual Backups (Import / Export)

The Export system creates a complete encrypted backup of your launcher. This includes your pages, objects, layout, and settings.

Exporting Your Project

To create a backup:

  • Open the Import / Export Dialog
  • Select Export Backup
  • Copy the generated backup string
  • Store it somewhere safe (password manager, file, etc)

This backup is your safety net. If anything goes wrong, you can restore your entire project instantly.

Importing a Backup

To restore a project:

  • Open the Import / Export Dialog
  • Select Import Backup
  • Paste your backup string
  • Confirm the import

Important Notice

Importing a backup will completely overwrite your current project. This cannot be undone.

Pro tip

Keep multiple backups over time. If you break something later, you can roll back to a working version instead of starting again.

Creating Templates for the Community

GLC allows you to turn your launcher into a reusable template that other users can import and build upon.

What is a Template?

A template is simply your launcher configuration packaged in a way that other users can load instantly and customise.

Exporting a Template

Templates use the same underlying system as backups, but are designed for sharing.

  • Prepare your launcher (clean layout, working design)
  • Open the Import / Export Dialog
  • Export your project
  • Share it as a template with the community

By default, templates are free to export and share, making it easy to contribute to the ecosystem.

Important Notice

Ensure you remove any personal information or data that others may see before you export as a template

Make it usable

Before sharing a template, remove broken links, placeholder content, and unfinished elements. What you export is exactly what others will experience.

Template Screenshots (Required)

When sharing or selling templates, your screenshot is what sells it.

What Your Screenshot Must Show

  • The actual launcher interface (majority of the image)
  • Clear layout and design structure
  • Visible UI elements (buttons, panels, visuals)

What You Can Add

  • Stylised background or cover art
  • Lighting or glow effects
  • Branding elements

What to Avoid

  • Full poster-style images with no UI
  • Over-editing that hides the real design
  • Misleading previews

Important Notice

If users cannot clearly see what the launcher looks like, they will not trust or download your template.

Making Money with Premium Templates

Templates are not just for sharing — they are a real opportunity to create and sell high-quality launcher designs.

How Premium Templates Work

You can create polished, ready-to-use launcher designs and offer them as paid templates.

These are typically:

  • Highly designed launchers
  • Game-specific themes
  • Professional UI layouts
  • Feature-rich starter projects

What Makes a Template Sell

Clean Design

Looks modern and polished straight away.

Easy to Edit

Users can quickly customise it for their own project.

Strong Preview

Your screenshot clearly shows the value.

Useful Features

Includes real functionality, not just visuals.

Positioning Your Templates

Think of templates like starter kits. The better they look and the easier they are to use, the more valuable they become.

Quick Tips

  • Always export a backup before making major changes
  • Keep multiple backup versions over time
  • Only share templates that are complete and polished
  • Your screenshot is more important than you think
  • Free templates build reputation, premium templates build income
  • Design something you would actually want to use yourself

Pro Tip

The more templates you create, the more value you build — both for the community and for yourself.
